Girl Crush: Sylve Colless

Ever since Rusty introduced us to triple threat Sylve Colless we have to confess to a minor obsession. That's not dance, act and sing by the way, it's smart, talented and smokin'.  While she's not posing or shooting for Rusty, or conceptualising covers for Stab (by the way she boards as well), she is adding to a personal collection of works that is enigmatic and hauntingly beautiful.

Kate Sylvester is schooling us in cool by seamlessly stitching sportswear with couture in her upcoming collection 'Lost & Found', and we're happy to stay back after class!

Pulling from 70s images of muse-worthy Loulou de la Falaise and stills from Swedish art house flick Let the Right One In  , 1970’s sportswear is reworked in featherweight chiffons and silks, the field comes into play with boucle knit sweaters and cardigans in rugby stripes, and an explosive Rubik’s cube print is pure math 1.01. But If, like myself, you're more of a spectator than a sportswoman, 'sweater girl’ knits, silk blouses and dresses in floral prints, skirts in mink, caramels, violet or lace, or dresses and tops laced with tiny sequins should keep you warm in the stands.

Aline Smithson: Arrangement In Green and Black

I came across these fantastic works by artist Aline Smithson and immediately fell in love.
She explains the concept for the series on her website:

"The series incorporates traditional photography techniques, yet becomes richer with the treatment of hand painting. It is my intent to have the viewer see the work in a historical context with the addition of color.
My patient 85 year-old mother posed in over 20 ensembles, but unfortunately passed away before seeing the finished series. I am grateful for her sense of humor and the time this series allowed us to be together."
